For many, many years we have been told that quitting smoking is very difficult to do, that a person trying to quit will experience many different withdrawal symptoms, such as;

  •  Gaining excessive weight.
  • That they will become nervous and irritable.
  • They will experience cold sweats, or shakes.
  • Will not be able to focus.

And the list goes on and on, so much so that many people do not even attempt quitting, for fear they will not be able to handle these difficulties.

Now I do not want you to think that quitting smoking is a walk in the park, far from it, however it is nowhere near as difficult as most people have been led to believe.

Think for a minute who profits by the smoker thinking it will be hard to quit?

These groups have a vested interest in people continuing to smoking, or having a difficult time quitting. The messages you see from these and others with the same motivation will almost always contain references to how difficult quitting is, or the physical and mental challenges you could experience.

If I told you there is a quit smoking method that has a higher long term success rate than all others, and costs no money to try, would you be interested?

This method is widely known as the “cold turkey” method, and many of those who have convinced smokers that it is difficult to quit, deride the “cold turkey” method as the hardest way to quit. If you believe the hype, then they are right.

I do speak from experience; I was a 2 pack a day smoker for more than 20 years, when I finally decided to quit. That was more than 20 years ago, and the key was that I decided it was finally time to quit forever, I threw a half pack of cigarettes in the trash and have never even touched one since.

I did however experience a few days of imagined discomfort, it took years for me to stop reaching for my pocket when in the company of smokers, I still very infrequently will have a dream where I am smoking. Most of the time I never even think about smoking.

The reality is that quitting “cold turkey” is not difficult and smokers who quit this way are far more likely to stay ex-smokers than those who use any other method. Coupled with the fact that there is no cost in this method, you have a win-win going in. There are many no cost resources available on the Internet that offer tricks, tips and support.
